El Salvador

I only spent a few days here. It is a pretty country, and the people are quite friendly. But, it is not really set up for tourists.

I don't mind roughing it a little, but I still like some creature comforts.

El Zonte was suggested to me for surfing, but I stopped down and saw that the nicest accommodations were basically hostels. Not really my speed.

I went to the historic center of San Salvador, and for the first time on my trip, I skipped it. I did not find anywhere I was comfortable leaving my car while I explored the area. The center of San Salvador is a bit sketchy. But, if I had another day, I would be more than comfortable taking a taxi in, and exploring.

I have never felt worried about my safety in this country, but property crime does concern me. It is always wise to err on the side of caution, I guess.

With that said, there are some great things to do here. I hope, someday, El Salvador will shake its bad reputation, and live up to the beauty of this country, and its people.
