Destinations

Wherever you go, whether it is around the world or just around the block; there are adventures waiting.  It is our responsibility as humans to search out those things that are new and different.  To meet people we don't know.  To learn new ideas. And, often, to get out of our comfort zone.

Be a tourist if you must. But if you can, try to be a traveler instead. Get away from tour groups. Stop eating in guide book restaurants. Get out of the taxis and onto public transportation.  Learn to get off the beaten path. It is off the path that your adventures await. Yes, your Instagram page will fill up nicely as a tourist. But, the memories that you will cherish the most will come from the unplanned, from the time you spend away from the tourist crowds but with the locals.  Your appreciation for a place will only happen when you realize that it is not just a tourist destination, but a place where everyday people live and work and study and raise families.
